Press Release

NAMATANAI MP Walter Schnaubelt has made an undertaking to direct one of his many priorities to support sports programs in the district to motivate youths to excel
.
He said this was a digestive receipt to instill discipline, character and mental development in youths.
Schnaubelt, PNG’s Kyokushin Karate legend shared how the sport has contributed enormously in his discipline, character and mental development in an immense way.
Speaking from experience, he said sports was a game changer in shifting a person’s mindset and become a responsible citizen in the community.

He said there was no excuse in denying youths to have a right in this endeavour.
“We shouldn’t be denying our natural talents the opportunity to excel through sports. We need to support them (youths) to set the standards for New Irelanders through discipline, character building and mental development,’’ he said.
“Let’s invest in making their (youths) lives worthwhile to make their mark in the societies they live in,’’ he said.

He urged all concerned authorities in the district to sit down together and strategize on how to get it done through partnership.
“I urge the government and the stakeholders to stand together and provide opportunities for our youths to excel in sports.

He said he is setting his intentions to put up a New Ireland team in Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League’s (PNGRFL) semi-professional Digicel Cup competition to motivate youth’s participation since having a number of rugby league competitions in the district.
Meanwhile, the MP recently supported the Newcrest sponsored Nimamar Rugby 9’s competition with K13,000 during a recent launch on Lihir Island.
