Via United Nations in Papua New Guinea
This year, the International Year of the Periodic Table (IYPT) as well as the 100th anniversary of International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) will be celebrated. To mark this occasion, a Periodic Table of Young Chemists has been created. A diverse group of 118 outstanding young chemists from around the world, who embody the mission and core values of IUPAC and Agenda 2030’s sustainable development goals, have been chosen.
This Periodic Table will highlight a diversity of careers, creativity and the dedication of young chemists under the age of 40 leading us into the next century.
Ms Yalinu Poya from Papua New Guinea, has been selected as one of the 118 brilliant young chemists. Yalinu is currently completing her PhD at the University of Glasgow in the UK after completing her undergraduate degree at University of PNG (BSc in Chemistry) and later her Masters in Inorganic Chemistry at the Northeast Normal University, China.
Yalinu is “honored to be selected … thrilled my research has been endorsed as meeting the core values of IUPAC and contributing to the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations. As a daughter of Papua New Guinea, we are showing the world that we can contribute to great things that can change the course of our world in securing a greater future for generations.”
