The Prime Minister James Marape arrived today in Goroka Eastern Highlands province and officially opened the 5th National Education Conference 2019 at the University of Goroka (UOG) .
The theme is of the conference is "Sustainability
Prime Minister Marape said it's timely the conference coincides with his Marape_Steven Governments dream to have an educated population by leaving no child behind.
He told those educationists and stakeholders at the conference to come up and or look for ways to redesign the PNG Education system to ensure all child reaches Grade 12.
Mr Marape emphasized the need for the education sector to establish vocational training schools and Flexible Open Distance Education (FODE) centers in most of the high school establishments in the provinces.
Prime Minister Marape said the Government will support and wants the education sector to select the best top 5 percent of Grade 10 students to the attend Schools of Excellence throughout the country.
He also announced to the University students at the University of Goroka that the Government starting next year through the National budget a student loan subsidy scheme for students to get loans and pay for their schools fess and later work and repay.
